A month after the Ministry of Human Resource Development requested for a Visitor inquiry against Allahbad University Vice Chancellor Professor Ratanlal Hanglu, an audit report of the university has found that it has been fighting as many as 300 court cases and all the funds go into fighting legal battles rather than focusing on academic development.

The committee appointed by University Grants Commission (UGC) was one of the committees conducting audits of ten central universities across the country. The audit team that visited the university between November 13-15 has recently submitted its report to the ministry. In the report, the committee has mentioned that the university administration is "wasting all its time, energy and funds in fighting the numerous court battles that have arisen as a result of the internal politics in the university".

"There is a group of retired teachers in the university, which has been conspiring against the Vice Chancellor and his work is getting affected because of it. There are many cases of corruption and financial irregularities levelled against the VC," the committee in its report said.

Because of the current situation, the university has been facing serious lack of funds and everything from academic development to salaries of employees is getting affected due to this. There is no co-ordination between the registrar and finance officer of the university and the university has no plans for its future, the committee said.

The committee also said that law and order situation in the campus is very bad, in fact "it cannot be worse in any other university campus", it said in its report.
