All-party meet in discusses holding exam amidst Telangana stir
With the Telangana political joint action committee insisting that they will hold the 'million march to Hyderabad' on March 10, several parties have demanded that the government postpone the exam.
Andhra Pradesh secondary education minister K Parthasarathi today held an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of holding the intermediate board examination on March 10, the day when pro-Telangana groups have called for a massive protest."Some suggested that the exams be held from March 14. But many parties favoured postponing the exam scheduled only on March 10. We will discuss the issue and take a decision," Parthasarathi told reporters. With the Telangana political joint action committee (JAC) insisting that they will hold the 'million march to Hyderabad' on March 10, several parties have demanded that the government postpone the exam.Parthasarathi had earlier appealed to the parties and groups to cooperate with the government to conduct the exam smoothly.Meanwhile, JAC convener M Kodandaram alleged that the government has decided to conduct the exam on March 10 only to hurt the pro-Telangana agitation."It has been a practice in Andhra Pradesh to start the Intermediate exams around March 15. But this year, the government has decided to conduct the exams from March 7 to hurt the Telangana agitation," he said.Kodandaram demanded that the government defer the March 10 exam.
