On Friday, students of Nav Gujarat College nabbed a man trying to extort money by posing as a crime branch officer.

Vivek Kumar Gupta, at 11:30am, approached a couple of students sitting outside Nav Gujarat College on Ashram Road and asked them for their ID cards. Gupta identified himself as Assistant Commissioner of Police with Mumbai crime branch. He then threatened the students to book them for drug trafficking.

Pritesh Savania and Vishal Chauhan are studying in third year B.Com of the college. Scared, they handed over their ID cards to Gupta, who allegedly asked four students to accompany him to the police station. Naranpura police found an ID card from Gupta's pocket which says he is a manager of a bank in New Delhi. Gupta said he is a resident of Mumbai.
