Ansar Gazwat-ul Hind's claim comes days after Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the killing.

Constable Farooq Ahmad was killed when terrorists attacked the police guard at the Qureshi's residence at Bilal Colony Soura in Srinagar outskirts on Sunday.

Ansar Gazwat-ul Hind put up a hand-written poster on the main gate of Government Degree College, Pulwama in south Kashmir claiming that their cadres had gone to kill Qureshi but "unfortunately his guard died in the shootout".

The outfit has also warned the Hurriyat activists to mend ways of face the consequences.
