The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has indicted the erstwhile Akhilesh Yadav government for misusing government funds. In its report tabled on Thursday, the CAG pointed that Rs 15.06 crore was spent without any budget for distributing a Rs 20.58 crore unemployment allowance to about 1.27 lakh unemployed youth in the state during 2012-2013.

Raising serious questions over one of the dream schemes of the Akhiesh government, the report stated that holding functions for distribution of unemployment allowance was against the guidelines. “The guidelines neither made any mention of holding any function nor any budgetary provisions were made for the same,” it stated.

The CAG has also charged Akhilesh regime for not giving sanctions to construct school buildings despite having funds.
