The second list comes close on the heels of raids on several ashrams in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and in other places belonging to self-styled baba Virendra Dev Dixit.

The second list was released after a meeting of the All-India Akhara Parishad in Allahabad to review the preparation for Kumbh Mela. Releasing the list, Mahant Narendra Giri said that the Parishad was keeping a close watch on the activities of all sadhus and seers in the country, and added that they would keep on revealing names of such fake babas. This move is aimed at making the public aware of these fraud 'godmen', and making it easier for the administration to initiate action against them.

Reacting to the publication of the second list, Maa Trikaal Bhawanta alleged that Mahant Narendra Giri should come out clean with his list of crimes before pointing fingers on others. "He got his Guru murdered. There are many more crime cases pending against him," she said.

The first list included names of Virendra Dev Dixit, Sachchidanand Saraswati and Maa Trikaal Bhawanta. It also included names of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Asaram Bapu and his son Narayan Sai, Swami Rampal among others.

Sachchidanand Saraswati's ashram in Basti has recently been in news after four ashram sevaks had charged him along with others of rape. They had also complained that they were kept in the ashram against their will.
