Defence minister AK Antony said on Wednesday India’s neighbours (Pakistan and China) were building military capabilities at a “feverish” pace and the country needed to be “vigilant and prepared”.Speaking at the annual Field Marshal KM Cariappa Memorial lecture, he said some nations were keen to “incite” threats to India’s unity and integrity and stressed the need for securing the country’s land, air and sea borders. To successfully meet such challenges, Antony said, the need to remain prepared at all times goes without saying and is unquestionable. The defence minister said the strategic and geo-political situation, along with the compulsions of history, posed unique challenges to the country.
