After a series of delays in launching BRTS operation, AJL officials have set yet another deadline. In a board meeting on Monday, it was decided that the operation will be launched by the end of July. To meet the deadline, work on preparing the infrastructure in the 12.5 km BRTS stretch will be accelerated.

AMC commissioner and chairman of AJL, IP Gautam, said the work would be completed by the last week of July and there would be no delay in launch of the BRTS.
The other issues of preparedness were also discussed in the meeting. It turned out that 14 buses are ready for use, while seven others are under construction. As par the contract detail, the bus contractors are supposed to get 25 buses ready. But, as of now, they have managed to get only 21 buses ready.

Gautam said a notice has been issued to manufacturers, asking them to provide all the 25 buses in a state of readiness when the first stretch of BRTS would be launched in the July-end. The board also discussed the use of smart cards in BRTS  and uniforms for its driver and conductors.
