In a release today, Leader of the Opposition and founder of the AINRC, N Rangasamy here said that his party "wholeheartedly welcomes the fielding of senior leader Venkiah Naidu and extends full support to him."

Rangasamy said that Naidu had displayed his "excellent capability in discharging his duties" while holding different positions.

"Naidu's long political experience is exemplary.. He has been cordial to everyone cutting across party differences..

His simplicity has also been a distinct feature," he added.

The former Chief Minister of the Union Territory also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the national president of BJP Amit Shah for their initiatives.

"I convey my party's wishes to Venkiah Naidu for his victory in the vice presidential election," Rangasamy said.

The party had extended support to NDAs presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
