With the denial of bail to Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh by a Delhi court on Wednesday, Singh’s fate now lies in the hands of AIIMS doctor who will examine whether he should be sent back to Tihar jail for his alleged involvement in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam. Special judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal’s decision came after relying on the medical reports by AIIMS while rejecting both the bail applications of the former Samajwadi Party leader who is undergoing treatment for his kidney ailments.

“The reports of the accused were sought from the director of the AIIMS from time to time. As per the September 26 report, the accused is stable but requires monitoring. I leave it to the judgement of the AIIMS to decide the period for which the accused is to be kept under observation. The regular bail has been declined," the court said.
