Opposition AIADMK on Friday charged Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and ruling Congress with "violating" model code of conduct now in force in Puducherry in connection with the by-poll to Nellithope assembly constituency, which is going for by-poll on November 19.

Talking to reporters here leader of AIADMK legislature party A Anbalagan said the model code of conduct had come into force since October 17 in Puducherry with the announcement of the by-poll. He alleged that Narayanasamy had been "holding meetings with the voters" of Nellithope in his official chamber on the Assembly premises. 

Officers of the Puducherry government were also present in the meetings, he alleged. Anbalagan said his party would draw the matter to the attention of the Election Commission.
