Due to a minor technical fault, Ahmedabad-bound Borivali-Ahmedabad passenger train got stuck near Uttran railway station, on Thursday morning. The incident disrupted train movements on the route for more than two hours, delaying many passenger trains.

The Ahmedabad passenger train departed from Uttran railway station (next to Surat) at 7:05 am on Thursday as per the schedule. As the train moved a few metres, the clipping joining its engine and the SLR coach got separated. As a result, the engine went little ahead and left the entire train behind. As the engine went farther, air-brake got activated and the train came to a halt.However, the train got stuck in the middle, blocking the up line.

Engine driver informed railway officials, who rushed to the spot. With help of another engine, they pushed the train from Uttran to Kosad railway station. Later, the engine was again joined to the train and was allowed to go towards its destination. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Following the incident, local trains got delayed by more than an hour. Train services got disrupted by more than two hours, putting daily commuters to much inconvenience.

Sources said that SLR coach, which was to go to Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, was joined with the train from Mumbai. However, after joining the coach, the railway staff did not check it. Interestingly, joint was not checked in Surat too. A departmental inquiry has been ordered in the incident.
