Ahmedabad cops arrest bookie after his abduction

In a bizarre twist of events, Vastrapur police arrested a bookie, Milan Brahmbhatt, after he was kidnapped by four people on Sunday night. Police were on look-out for him.

Following his kidnap near his residence, abductors had released Milan, a resident of Deep towers in Bodakdev.

However, instead of returning to his flat on Sunday night, Brahmbhatt went to his friend’s place in Sola, as he was drunk and didn’t want to land in police net. The police, after searching for him all night, found him sleeping at his friend’s apartment in Sola.
Vastrapur police arrested him under the Prohibition Act for consuming liquor.

During investigation, police also learnt that Brahmbhatt was a bookie and used to operate from his flat in Deep Towers. He was kidnapped by one Raju Bharwad as Brahmbhatt owed him a huge sum.

On Sunday night at 11:45 pm, Ved Prasad Pandey, a security man posted at Deep Tower, called his superior after he was thrashed by five men near the main gate. They were trying to enter the compound forcibly. Pandey’s superior immediately called police and informed them about the incident. Meanwhile, five people, including one Raju Bharwad, asked Pandey to call Brahmbhatt on intercom. After receiving the call, Brahmbhatt came down and started arguing with Bharwad. Brahmbhatt was also accompanied by his friend Kamal Bhanuprasad.

Following the arguments, Raju Bharwad started beating them and kidnapped them over some transaction issues between them.
When police reached the spot, Pandey informed the cops that two men living in B/202 were abducted by some unidentified men in an Indica car (GJ18-AH-6804).

Police searched for them the whole night but couldn’t trace the location of kidnappers and Brahmbhatt. Later on Monday morning, when police received the mobile phone of Brahmbhatt’s friend Kamal, they called him.

Police found that Bharwad had released both Kamal and Brahmbhatt at midnight. Even Bharwad confirmed the duo’s release by informing police they had reached a compromise soon after he kidnapped them.
