The deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Zone-V, had transferred Ramol police inspector RT Gohil to Special Branch.

Similarly, PSI VM Gajjar and constable Bharathsinh Barot were suspended by the DCP for showing undue leniency towards Rohit Fauji, the prime accused in the case. The duo had allegedly allowed Fauji to come out of lockup at Ramol police station for a meal and the matter was reported to the DCP.

On September 9, Fauji and his three accomplices barged into Ashwin Chaudhari's mobile shop in Rabari Colony, knocked him down and looted him of a gold chain and a mobile phone-both collectively valued at Rs44,000 at gunpoint.

Ashwin, who is the husband of former corporator Nairuti Chaudhary, had lodged a complaint at Ramol police station and cops had nabbed Fauji from near CTM the same evening.
