After Modi-show in Jaipur, Congress flexes muscles in tribal belt

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot can go back home happy and relieved. The rally at Salumber was quite impressive not just in numbers but the way people responded during the speech of Rahul Gandhi.

After what was described as historic turnout in Narendra Modi’s much-hyped rally in Jaipur on Tuesday, the Congress had to come with an equally impressive show and political pundits have been eagerly waiting if Rahul would be able to match Modi mania.

The Congress leaders were upbeat by the massive crowd and dared PCC president Chandrabhan to claim that ‘sea of crowd’ has emerged and Modi’s rally was a state level rally mostly attended by the BJP cadre while the Congress rally was just a regional one in which ‘aam aadmi’participated.

Although, it is difficult to put finger on a number, which is a common problem for any political rally but it would be suffice to say that if all roads lead to Amrddon ka Bagh on Tuesday, on Wednesday they seemed to be leading towards Congress rally in Salumber. Roads were chock-a-block and took hours to clear after the rally concluded.

But, what should make Gehlot really happy was that not only Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi applauded his government’s pro poor schemes but people also appeared in agreement with him. A number of people dna spoke to were aware of Gehlot government’s welfare schemes like pension for elderly and subsidised ration under Ann Suraksha Yojna.
