With strong political overtones, the meeting was seen as an attempt by the Aam Aadmi Party to bring the National Award winning actor on its side.

It's yet to be seen whether it becomes a reality, but the post-meeting statements showed the mutual admiration by both leaders.

“We had an excellent meeting. We will continue to discuss and meet each other in future also,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.

“I am very happy that he (Arvind Kejriwal) is here, have discussed issues including corruption. We are united by our fight against corruption,” Kamal Haasan said.

The AAP chief was received at the airport by Haasan's younger daughter Akshara.

Kejriwal met the actor at his office in Alwarpet in Chennai.

Haasan has been critical of the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu over various issues, including corruption, triggering sharp condemnation from some state ministers.

He recently called on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram. After the Onam lunch with his 'old friend', when asked about his political affiliation, the actor had said that he had been in the film industry for 40 years, but "I can tell you one thing, my colour is definitely not saffron".
