The Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan in Lucknow which is popularly known as Annexe and houses the Chief Minister's office is being painted saffron, from outer walls to the terrace.

The building is being painted saffron after getting Yogi's nod.

"The building needs repair and painting. The saffron colour was chosen since it was liked by everyone," he said. The annexe has traditionally been painted white and light yellow," a senior official in the secretariat told Times of India.

He also said that this was the first time that a different colour code has been chosen by the state government.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Amarnath Agarwal took a jibe at the Yogi government. “No colour is bad, but painting the seat of governance in saffron is nothing but a subtle attempt at saffronisation of the bureaucracy."

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary termed it as 'misuse of power'. "Ye Bhagwakaran ki rajneeti hai (It's all saffron (right wing) politics)," a daily quoted him.
