A total of 9.10 lakh people travelled in the new-age transport system till 8pm this evening, which is an increase of over 50,000 commuters as compared to yesterday.

The DMRC earned at least Rs10 lakh due to the surge in today's numbers.

Around 8.53 lakh people had used the metro till 8pm yesterday.

Metro officials attributed today's jump in the number of commuters to the reports and traffic advisories asking people to avoid certain roads in Delhi in view of the BJP rally against price rise.

They said more number of people opted for metro as they thought they would be stuck in traffic jams if they took their vehicles.
