Former president APJ Abdul Kalam, had been admitted in an Army Hospital in New Delhi with skin infection.

"The former president's condition is improving," Brigadier AK Sharma, a doctor with the AHR&R, said.

The 77-year-old missile scientist was admitted to the Army Hospital Research and Referral (AHR&R) with eczema, a skin infection on Sunday afternoon.

A hospital source said since Kalam was diabetic, the infection has aggravated.

"We have controlled his insulin level and this has somewhat checked the infection from spreading," the source said.

However, doctors attending him are yet to decide when Kalam would be discharged from the hospital.

The former president had once previously been admitted to the AHR&R when he fractured his left shoulder.
