The All Assam Students Union today urged the Railway to name a train after musical legend Bhupen Hazarika. "We request railway authorities to name an important long-distance train of the country after Dr Bhupen Hazarika who we consider as the soul of Assam," AASU President Sankar Prasad Rai and General Secretary Tapan Gogoi said here today. The student organisation also appealed to the Railways to introduce a 'Cultural Train', carrying his belongings, which would be a fitting way tribute by it to Hazarika, who passed away on November five.They also appealed the authorities to consider renaming Guwahati station, the most imprtant station of the Northeast, after Hazarika. "This gesture will immediately touch the hearts of North Easterners."An AASU delegation had recently met the North Eastern Railway authorities and discussed suitable measures to preserve and propagate the maestro's constributions.
