According to the complaint, Bassi had not allegedly disclosed that he already owned another flat, while he was being allotted the new flat. In 1998, he allegedly sold off the apartment to his younger brother for Rs11 lakh, which is less than the market rate, to save on stamp duty.

Bassi had denied these allegations.

The corruption allegation marks another fight between AAP and the Delhi Police, which is controlled by the Centre. Ties have always been strained lately over the arrest of several AAP leaders.

Kejriwal has accused the police has failed to curb crimes in Delhi and is not cooperating with his government. He had always demanded that his government be given control of the city’s police force.
