Interacting with media persons ahead of an event, Jaiswal said Congress always had been a firm believer in democracy and because of that it decided to lend its support to the AAP without any conditions.

On AAP spurning Congress' offer by imposing a long list of conditions, the minister said, "If AAP doesn't form the government in Delhi, it should be ready to bear the brunt of public who voted them to form a government." Responding to a query regarding Lokpal Bill, Jaiswal said the Centre was "ready to pass the ombudsman bill, but some political parties were opposing and taking political mileage out of it".

Jaiswal said that political parties should stop playing politics over the bill and should support the Congress so that the nation gets a strong Lokpal Bill.
