At least 79 Indian nationals returned from Ebola-hit Liberia on Tuesday but all of them were found healthy and none had any symptoms of the disease.

A statement by the health ministry said, "Sixty-six passengers have already landed in Mumbai and 13 in Delhi. They have all been screened and found healthy. No passenger has been isolated. No case of Ebola Virus Disease has been detected in India."

These 79 Indians are part of group of 112 Indian nationals working with Afcons in Liberia who are being brought back by the International SOS (ISOS) Organisation on the request of Afcons.

Senior health ministry officials have already been pre-positioned at Mumbai and Delhi Airport to monitor the screening of these passengers from Liberia and rest of the persons are expected to reach late Tuesday evening.

Of the 112, four from are from Delhi, 54 from Maharashtra, 12 from West Bengal, 10 from Bihar, seven from Uttar Pradesh, five from Tamil Nadu, four from Andhra Pradesh, three each from Kerala, Odisha and Gujarat, two each from Karnataka, Haryana and Punjab and one each from Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

Medical director, International SOS said that these persons were screened at the time of exit from Liberia and none of the evacuees had any symptoms prior to travel.

"Even though developed countries are not screening passengers arriving from Ebola-affected countries, India as a matter of abundant caution, is doing so," a health ministry statement said.

The ministry also said that the state governments have been requested to do rigorous tracking and monitoring of passengers from affected countries and the concerned States have been alerted for follow up of such passengers on daily basis.
