CHENNAI: Seventy eight students of Salem Law College were arrested on Wednesday when they arrived here to take out a march to the State Secretariat to protest the Centre's decision on providing scholarship to Adi Dravidar students.

Police sources said while 32 students were arrested in front of the Secretariat, where they assembled to submit a memorandum to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the remaining 46 were arrested near the Labour's Statue on the Marina where they assembled to take out a march.

All the arrested were remanded in judicial custody.

The Centre had recently announced that the Adi Dravidar students had to secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks for availing scholarships in Central Government's educational institutions.

Condemning the move, the students from Salem arrived here to take out a rally to the State Secretariat to submit a memorandum in this regard.
