Seven persons, including four women were killed, and eight others injured, when a truck carrying them overturned in Anklav taluka here early this morning, police said.

The incident occurred near Ambav village when a truck loaded with tiles and carrying some 15 labourers, over-turned at a curve, they said.

According to police, seven labourers died on the spot, while the eight injured were taken to a nearby government hospital for treatment.

Condition of three persons is critical, while five have sustained minor injuries, they said.

The labourers were returning from Bhavnagar district to their native village in Vadodara district when the mishap took place, they added.

The deceased have been identified as Naresh Vasava (15), Kanchan Vasava (40), Jayanti Rathod (20), Ramesh Rathod (40), Laxmi Rathod (25), Jadaben Rathod (60) and Kailashben Rathod (10).

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, police said.
