Union law & IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced on Monday that the central government would notify seven forensic laboratories in the next three weeks.
Speaking at the All India Forensic Science Conference, Prasad said that one of the forensic labs would be at the Gujarat University.
He urged scientists and students of the Forensic University to find innovative solutions to address the challenges of cyber threats, dark web and abuses of innovations of internet.
The Union minister also said that use of Aadhaar has brought good governance by eliminating fictitious beneficiaries and ensuring that benefits of government schemes reach the real beneficiaries. He also took a dig at detractors of Aadhaar saying that one cannot tolerate corruption and terrorist activities under the guise of right to privacy.
He also said that in a country of 130 crore people, there are 121 crore mobile phones, 40 crore smart phones, and 120 crore Aadhaar cards.
The minister also felicitated outstanding contributors in the field of forensic research at the conference.
