NEW DELHI: Sixty-seven fresh cases of dengue were registered in hospitals across the capital taking the total number of patients to 2775.

The capital, where 62 people have died this year due to the viral, did not report any dengue death on Thursday.

Twenty-five fresh cases of the mosquito-borne disease were reported at the AIIMS where 144 patients have been receiving treatment for the viral.

The AIIMS has discharged 34 dengue patients following their recovery from the illness.

Dengue is caused by the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding in stagnant water. It is marked by high fever, joint pain, skin rashes and a sharp drop in platelets in the blood that can prove fatal.
