'As many as 634 structures have so far been acquired and later demolished under Dal Lake Development Programme,' an official spokesperson said after a high level meeting of officers Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir government today said over 600 structures have been demolished as part of preservation and beautification of the world famous Dal Lake.
"As many as 634 structures have so far been acquired and later demolished under Dal Lake Development Programme," an official spokesperson said after a high level meeting of officers Srinagar.
The meeting was chaired by Kashmir divisional commissioner Asgar Samoon yesterday to settle the rehabilitation cases of Dal dwellers.
The owners of these demolished structures have been settled in eight colonies of Panchkarwari, Botakadal, Dadibug, Agrobagh, Habib-ullah Nowhseri Colony, Bemina, Fisherman Colony and JKPCC Colony in Srinagar, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said Rakh-e-Arth colony has also been developed for rehabilitation of remaining Dal dwellers.
Samoon, addressing the meeting said, Rakh-e-Arth colony would be developed on modern lines and all the basic amenities would be made available for the convenience of the people, who are being shifted from Dal Lake.
