The anti-corruption watchdog CVC's recommendations of disciplinary action against government officials were not followed in 52 cases, 11 of them in the Railways, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.

In the annual report of 2016, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has reported 52 cases of deviation from the prescribed procedure or of non-acceptance of its advice in respect of disciplinary proceedings and sanction for prosecution, he said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.

"However, all of them cannot be classified as cases of alleged corruption, nepotism, high handedness and red-tapism," said Singh, Minister of State for Personnel.

Of the total cases, seven were related to Department of Financial Services, five to Ministry of Civil Aviation, four against officers of Central Board of Excise and Customs and three each were related to National Highways Authority of India, Ministry of Power, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, he said.
