Indian Navy's guided-missile destroyer INS Mumbai on Saturday rescued 439 Indians from Yemen's port city, Aden.

The Ministry of External Affairs said 179 citizens from 17 countries were also evacuated by the Indian Navy. "A safe haven called INS Mumbai. In humanitarian effort, along with Indians 179 others from 17 countries evacuated from Aden yesterday," tweeted MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.

"Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - The world is a family. Nationals of 17 other countries evacuated by INS Mumbai from Yemen alongwith Indians," he added.

As per reports, the warship has placed itself just outside Aden harbour as part of Operation Raahat. Aden is currently reeling under heavy firing between Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi rebels.

Meanwhile, another batch of 193 Indian nationals landed in Kochi last night from Yemen. They were received by Kerala Minister for Diaspora, KC Joseph.
