3 youths held in Ahmedabad after clash with police

Ahmedabad police arrested three young men after fighting with them last night on the road near the IIM/BPA circle.

According to the Gujarat University police station police, the three, who were driving around in a Maruti Alto, were under the influence of alcohol.

They stopped their vehicle and stepped out to urinate, close to a spot where some young women were standing.

Two policemen, who were on patrol there, pulled up the youth and scolded them for using the road as a public urinal.

But the trio refused to listen to them and instead, picked up a fight with the men in uniform. No one suffered major injury in the fisticuffs that ensued but the inebriated trio soon found that it was unwise of them to start a fight with the men in uniform.

For soon, senior officers in vehicles zoomed into the lane and took the errant young men in their custody.

A case has been lodged against Mayursinh, Hitesh and Ajaysinh - the three offenders — at GU police station and their car has been impounded. The incident was a relatively stray case of anti-social activity, in the face of police bandobast that has started in view of the coming New Year revelry.
