The deceased have been identified as Bharat Kondiba Gore (26), his wife Anita Gore (22) and their son Omkar.

The Wadgaon Maval police arrested the tanker driver, Goraknath Laxman Takavale (34), a resident of Shivajinagar in Khandala taluka, for rash and negligent driving.

According to the police, the Gore family, natives of Pasure village in Bhor taluka and working as labourers in Panvel, hitched a ride home on the milk tanker at Rasayani Phata. The family was accommodated in the driver’s cabin.

At Wadgaon Maval, the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the road divider. As a result, the tanker turned turtle, crushing the trio. However, the tanker driver escaped unhurt, as he jumped out of the vehicle.

Later, the police contacted the relatives and handed over the dead bodies after a post-mortem on Sunday night.
