Another terrorist of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) involved in the terror attack on Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and two cops, was gunned down by security forces on Thursday in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Two terrorists on-board a cab lobbed a grenade at a police party injuring three cops including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) at Pattan in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. In the incident DySP Zaffar Mehdi and two policemen Shabir Ahmad and Ashiq Hussain sustained injuries who were immediately evacuated to the hospital for treatment.

After the incident, the police chased down one of the terrorist who was identified as Faizan Majeed Bhat. His accomplice Showkat Ahmad Bhat, had however, managed to escape from the spot.

On Thursday, the security forces intercepted Showkat near Doubgam-Kakpora in Pulwama district. Sources said a gunfight ensued in which he was killed. A pharmacy graduate, he had recently joined the terror ranks.

This is the third terrorist to have been gunned down by the security forces in the state in last 24 hours. On Wednesday two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, son of the hideout owner and a cop were killed while five security men were injured in a gun fight at Fathe Kadal in old Srinagar city.
