Special CBI prosecutor UU Lalit opposed the bail plea of Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, saying: “The entire transaction routed from Swan telecom (later Etisalat DB) to Kalaignar TV was a thanks giving affair to Raja who had helped the telecom company in getting the key licence.”

“The transactions started as soon as six days after allocation of spectrum when Etisalat DB transferred Rs3,600 crore to Swan telecom, which in turn started routing the money to various companies, including Kalaignar TV,” Lalit argued.

“The bank transaction of DB realty, Kuseagaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, Cineyug Films and Kalaignar TV is so identical that it is very difficult to make out any difference.

“Money started from one source and reaches the other source through a proper channel,” Lalit said quoting all the bank transactions since 2008.
