The investigation agency will also quiz officials of the TRAI to gather evidence against the DMK leader, who resigned as textile minister on Thursday.

The CBI suspects that when Dayanidhi was telecom minister, he arm-twisted Aircel to sell off its stakes to Maxis, which, in return, invested Rs630 crore in Sun TV.

“The Maran brothers will be questioned in the next fortnight. We have learnt that Dayanidhi promoted the interest of Sun TV. Some TRAI officials will also be questioned,” a CBI official said.

Executives of a Malaysia-based private bank will also be questioned. “We have received some documents from the Malaysian bank, which confirms transaction between Maxis and Sun TV. Digging out details from them will establish the money trail quid pro quo,” the official added.
