269 Indian prisoners in Pakistan get consular access

A consular team lead by Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh visited the Malir Jail in Karachi from January 15-17 where they met the Indian nationals, including 266 fishermen and three other prisoners, reportedly detained there.
During the visits, the team also distributed essential items of daily use and clothing to the Indian nationals. Earlier too, the Indian mission has organised consular access for Indian prisoners and the high commissioner had visited them and provided items of daily use.
"High Commission of India attaches high importance and priority to the welfare and well-being of Indian nationals in Pakistan. In this endeavour, it conducts regular visits to various Pakistani Jails to provide consular access and succour to those Indian nationals who are imprisoned there," the Indian High Commission said in a statement.
