Few know the story of the 26/11 attacks as well as he does. And that's why, when special public prosecutor from Mumbai, Ujjwal Nikam, was in town for the launch of a book, those present had a very informative talk in store.
Nikam raised serious questions over the United States' policies concerning their 'fight against terrorism', as well as Pakistan's role in the aftermath of the 26/11 tragedy.
Nikam pointed out that though Headley was the main conspirator in the attacks and declared accused, Pakistan does not seem particularly interested in recording his statement.
"On their part, the US is also not pressurising Pakistan for Headley's statement to be recorded," he said.
Elaborating on the attacks, Nikam said, “When someone like Headley, who's been part of terror activities at an international level, is arrested, a lot of information can be extracted. There should be pressure at the global level for Headley's extradition."Nikam pointed out that in their strategy for the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the focus was on the entire conspiracy and not Kasab alone.
"That is the reason we filed a single chargesheet for all incidents related to the attacks. Our major achievement has been that Pak has admitted to the evidence and arrested the accused," he said.
