The Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police today arrested Burhan Sheikh, the absconding suspect in the Khagragarh blast case, from a hideout in the central parts of the city.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF arrested Sheikh from a room of a hotel at B B Ganguly Street, a senior police officer said.

"He (Sheikh) was hiding there for the last couple of days. We carried out a raid today and arrested him from his hideout," he added.

Sheikh, who has been on the run since the blast took place at Khagragarh in Burdwan district in October 2014, carried a reward of Rs three lakh on his head, as announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

So far, around 30 people have been arrested by the NIA for their alleged involvement in the blast.
