Shehary, a 10-year-old-boy from Karachi, became the 200th patient from Pakistan to undergo liver transplant at a Delhi hospital, a unique feat for any Indian hospital.Shehary underwent a liver transplant surgery on October 6 at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital."Our experience with so many Pakistani patients and their families has taught us so much about Paksitani culture and the similarities between our societies," Dr Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director and Senior Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Apollo Hospitals said.Since 1998, he said, 776 liver transplants in children and adults have been done at the the hospital.Subash Gupta, Chief Liver Transplant Surgeon, said, "It is a proud moment for us to have completed two hundred cases, we feel a sense of accomplishment by the faith and courage shown by our patients, who have travelled such long distances for the treatment."
