GAYA: Two persons were killed and six others injured, four of them seriously, in an explosion which ripped through a bus near a petrol pump between Dobhi and Barachati on Grand Trunk Road in Bihar's Gaya district on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Amit Jain informed that the crude bomb being carried by naxalites went off when the bus approached Maharani petrol pump.

While two persons died on the spot, six others, who suffered splinter injuries, were admitted to a government hospital at Dobhi where condition of four was stated to be critical.

A portion of the bus was also damaged in the explosion, he said.

Police suspected that the bomb, being carried by naxalites belonging to the outlawed CPI (Maoist), went off accidentally leading to the tragedy.

No arrest has so far been made in connection with the incident, Jain said adding it was not immediately known whether those killed or injured had any links with naxalites.
