Two persons were arrested for allegedly breaking into houses and gold and silver ornaments, cash and an ambulance used in the commission of crimes recovered from them, police said today.

Based on a tip-off, a joint team of crime branch and police nabbed the two burglars identified as Adesh and Manoj around 5 pm yesterday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Mishra said.

Gold ornaments weighing 555 grams, coins, and one kg silver, having a combined worth of Rs 20 lakhs were recovered from the duo, he said, adding that an ambulance was also seized from them.

On interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that they were using the ambulance to avoid suspicion by police and the public.

The ambulance was used in a theft case in one Vijay Gupta's house in Nehru Nagar colony, when they had gone for pilgrimage.

An FIR was lodged by Gupta at Sihani gate police station on 25th April, Mishra said, adding the duo has been sent to jail.
