Amid reports of underworld don and 1993 serial blasts main accused Dawood Ibrahim's deteriorating health and rumors about his death, the Mumbai police have secured a non-bailable warrant against gangster Dawood Ibrahim, reported Hindustan Times.

A case against the international terrorist has been registered at Sakinaka police station in Andheri, in connection with a 1999 fake currency.

The decision to seek the warrant was the outcome of an effort to consolidate Dawood’s criminal activities into a database, sources from intelligence agencies told the daily.

Report said that when the judge questioned the unusual move after years, the prosecution told the court that the police had sanction to prosecute Dawood under MCOCA.

However, the court agreed to issue the warrant on Thursday after a couple of hearings, and the police received it on Friday.

Ibrahim has been reportedly suffering from multiple ailments for a long time now. There have also been reports that he has crippling gangrene in his legs and has also had a stroke in the past. Ibrahim is said to be receiving treatment for gangrene at his residence in the upscale Clifton neighbourhood of Karachi, and is also known to have been frequently visiting the Karachi hospital for medical rehabilitation.

Ibrahim is accused of plotting the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, in which 257 people were killed. He is also accused of masterminding many other terror attacks in India and faces multiple charges of money-laundering and extortion in several countries.

Earlier this year, a media report claimed that Rs 15000 crore worth of property owned by Ibrahim was seized in the UAE on the basis of a dossier provided by the Indian government.

Last year, the United Nation Sanctions Monitoring Committee updated its dossier on Dawood Ibrahim.  In its latest update, it is for the first time that a reference has been made to Dawood's wife Mehjabeen Shaikh.

The update, which is the fifth one since 2003, includes several aliases of Dawood as 'Dawood Bhai', 'Bada Seth', 'Bada Bhai', 'Mucchad' and 'Haji Sahab.'
