This news has sent the canine-loving community in the city into a tizzy and already a police complaint has been filed to nab the culprits. Only one puppy managed to stay alive. The video of survived puppy is going viral. Both mother and the survived puppy are in foster care and are totally traumatized as seen in the video. (Watch video here)

It is suspected that the dogs were killed by mixing poison in food.  On Sunday afternoon, wife of a hospital staffer first noticed some black coloured garbage bags lying outside the hospital premises.

She saw the head of a puppy peeping out from one of the bags. Out of curiosity, when she looked through the bags, to her horror, she found the dead bodies of 16 puppies.

All of them are demanding speedy justice for the death of the dogs. Conspiracy theories about possible culprits are also being floated, though nothing is known for sure as of now.

A lot of food was also recovered from the bags.

Soon the news spread and many animal-loving associations reached the spot. They suspect that the dogs were fed food laced with poison.

A complaint has been filed in the Entally police station. Later, police took the bodies away. Postmortem of the bodies will be done in the Barasat animal hospital to ascertain the cause of the death. Police are also likely to check the CCTV footages in the neighbouring areas to see who dumped the bags in front of the hospital.

According to some reports, two girls were seen dumping the bags in front of the hospital. Though their identity is yet to be ascertained.
