In day-long operations over vast areas of 'jangalmahal' in West Midnapore district, the joint security forces today arrested 14 Maoists, including a leader.
            Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma said Parameswar Mahato, a Maoist squad leader, was arrested from Lodhashuli forest area.
            Maoist literature, mobiles, several phone numbers were recovered from the possession of Mahato, known to be active in the West Midnapore belt, besides firearms.
            Thirteen other Maoists were arrested from Salboni, Belpahari and Jhargram areas of jangalmahal, the forested Naxalite-dominated pockets of West Midnapore.
            Besides West Midnapore, parts of Purulia and Bankura districts also fall under the stretch.
