1,100 kg poppy straw seized in Jammu
Acting on a tip-off, sleuths from the department intercepted a vehicle and recovered 45 poppy straw-laden bags concealed beneath vegetables yesterday.
Around 1,100 kg of poppy straw was seized from a car near a toll post at Lakhanpur in Kathua district by the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department officials here. Acting on a tip-off, sleuths from the department intercepted a vehicle, which was on its way to Delhi from Srinagar, and recovered 45 poppy straw-laden bags concealed beneath vegetables yesterday, officials said. The contraband was handed over to Inspector Excise Sub-Range Kathua for further proceedings under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA), they added.
