ISLAMABAD: Eleven people, including four women, were killed and four wounded Saturday when a speeding passenger minibus rammed into a roadside shop on the outskirts of the capital, police officials said.

The accident took place near the Barakoh area after the driver lost control due to a tyre burst and the bus ploughed into the shop, capital police chief Sultan Azam Timouri told reporters.

The driver and three passengers died at the spot while seven others succumbed to their injuries on their way to hospital. Reckless driving and violation of traffic rules claim hundreds of lives in road accidents in Pakistan every year.
