The Centre has asked about 1,000 personnel of paramilitary forces to be on standby to be sent to Lalgarh in West Bengal in case of "urgent necessity", a senior home ministry official said on Monday. "The home ministry has decided to keep 1,000 additional forces on standby," the official said adding, they would be deployed in West Bengal "if there is an urgent necessity".
    
The official said six companies (about 600 personnel) of CRPF and four companies (about 400 personnel) of BSF have been put on standby. At present, 16 companies of CRPF and four companies of BSF (about 2000 personnel in both forces) are deployed to flush out Naxals from Lalgarh area of West Bengal.
