The bandh, which began from 5 am this morning, was called in demand of bifurcation of Dima Hasao district into two autonomous districts with creation of separate independent council.

The IPF also demanded that the findings of the CBI investigation of the Rs 100 crore scam in the district public be made public and arrest of all the culprits.

Business establishments, educational institutions, markets, banks, post offices, transportation remained closed during the day.

However, the train services between Lumding and Silchar was not affected by the bandh.
