100 days of Modi 2.0: Article 370 move key among many 'historic and landmark' decisions taken by govt, says Javadekar

Javadekar said abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was one of the key decisions taken during 100 days of the Modi government's second term.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday said the first 100 days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's second term was full of "historic and landmark" decisions. 

Addressing a press conference on 100 days of the Modi government, Javadekar said abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was one of the key decisions taken by the BJP-led NDA dispensation. 

"The biggest decision taken was regarding Article 370, 35A and formation of union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. It's been 35 days and only a few minor incidents have taken place. Situation returning to normalcy," he said. 

"One of the important aspects of the decision to revoke Article 370 is that Pakistan knocked several doors including that of the United Nations, but the entire world stood with India," Javadekar who holds key Cabinet portfolios including Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Information & Broadcasting said. 

He also lauded the "sensitivity and encouragement" of Prime Minister Modi towards the dedicated scientists at ISRO and boost to the scientific community at large.

The senior BJP leader also highlighted the steps taken towards achieving the vision of making India US $5 trillion economy and stressed that while the slowdown of the economy is cyclical, the fundamentals of Indian economy are strong.

Addressing concerns raised on GDP growth rate, he said with the surge in foreign investment and domestic demand, GDP growth rate will soon rise.

Large scale investment in infrastructure and social sector, legislation against Triple Talaq; reduction of physical interference and transparency in GST and IT return filing process, Jal Shakti Abhiyaan; Har Ghar Bijli Yojna, social sector protection to unorganised sector workers and small traders, productive of Parliamentary Session and action against corrupt government officers were some of key decisions taken by the government, Javadekar said. 

The minister also released the booklet ‘Jan Connect’ and inaugurated an Exhibition on  ‘Furthering India’s Development - 100 days of Bold Initiatives & Decisive Actions’.
