Ten militia members, including some women, of the CPI-Maoist today surrendered in Narsipatnam town of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.The group led by G Chinakka and nine other militia members voluntarily surrendered before Visakhapatnam district police OSD (operations) Trivikram Verma, Narsipatnam Deputy superintendent of police, N Narasimha Kishore said."All the ten militia members were facing 10 offences against them including three cases of attacks on village sarpanchs, cutting down of trees on roads during Maoists bandh call besides pasting pro-Maoists posters," the DSP said, adding the militia members had been supporting the Maoists for the past seven years.The surrendered militia members who belong to Kannavaram village of Koyyuru mandal in Visakhapatnam district, will be first counselled and later set free, he said.

Earlier, on November 22, five armed militia members of the CPI-Maoist were arrested from Kannavaram village of Koyyuru Mandal in the district and police had seized five single bore rifles and few grenades from their possession.
